Similar to the previous medical mission in Zone 96, Brgy. 873, Sta. Ana, Manila, one was held on Recto Avenue in Manila on February 25, 2023. A total of 2,532 Manileños from Zones 2 and 25, Districts 1 and 3, took advantage of the mission’s free health and wellness services.

This is the eleventh medical mission, led by Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto with Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna-Pangan, and Asenso Manileño for Batang Tondo and San Nicolas. The Philippine Coast Guard, VIB Manila, the Manila Health Department, the Fight for Sight Optical Center, MMDC Massage and Hair Cutters, Meeras Panemorfi Beauty & Wellness, RAHA Fire Volunteers, and a number of hospitals and health centers supported this program. The host barangays were also involved in keeping the medical event safe, orderly and successful.

Dubbed as “Araw N’yo Servisyo Ko!”, VM Yul Servo Nieto was joined in the mission by Manila’s 1st District representatives led by Cong. Ernix Dionisio with Con. Jesus “Taga” Fajardo, Con. Niño Dela Cruz, Con. Dr. Irma Alfonso, Con. Ian Banzai Nieva, Con. Bobby Lim, and Con. Marjun Isidro, and 3rd District representatives and councilors led by Cong. Atty. Joel Chua with Con. Apple Nieto, Con. Pamela “Fa” Fugoso, Con. Atty. Jong Isip Jr., Con. Tol Zarcal, Con. Terrence Alibarbar, and Con. Maile Atienza. They also gave food and raffles for Batang Tondo and Batang San Nicolas.

“Kapag tayo po ay malusog, marami po tayong nagagawang kabutihan para sa ating sarili at pamilya. Kaya patuloy po nating gagawin ang medical missions, dahil malaki ang naitutulong nito sa ating kalusugan” (When we are healthy, we can do a lot of good things for ourselves and our family, that is why we will continue these medical missions because they help us improve our health), Nieto said.

Volunteer doctors gave free general health check-ups, including minor surgery, while dental care services were provided by the mission’s volunteer dentists. Patients with eye problems were checked, and eyeglasses were given for free to those diagnosed to need them. Basic laboratory tests were also available for free, as well as wellness services like haircuts, massage, and facial treatment. Even food was given to those who participated in the medical mission.

A part of the comprehensive healthcare program of the Vice Mayor, he wants more Manila barangays to have access to his medical missions.
